Overview
The client approached us to implement a reporting system that would provide oversight on the implementation of the Power Platform within their organisation. The solution gives Fidelis a clear view of active apps, flows and connectors across every environment, supporting better governance, improved security, and significant savings on data licensing costs.
The Challenge
The client had several employees who had developed various apps and data flows using the Power Platform. They recognised the potential risk of data exposure outside the organisation and sought a solution that would provide visibility into the number of active apps and flows within the company, the connectors they utilised, and an assessment of which connectors might pose a security risk.
Our Solution
To gather initial insights into the Power Platform tools in use, Synapx deployed a pre-built Power BI solution available from Microsoft. We customised this report to capture detailed information about the client’s Power Platform environments.
We then enhanced the report by categorising connectors and visualising the environments, applications, and flows that leveraged connectors across multiple environments. This provided a high-level overview, with the added capability for users to drill down into individual environments to examine more granular data.
The Result
The tailored Power BI report provided comprehensive visibility into the client’s Power Platform ecosystem, enabling them to monitor key metrics such as the number of environments, apps, and flows using multi-environment connectors.
The solution delivered an intuitive, high-level view with the option for detailed drill-through analysis, helping the client mitigate potential data risks and maintain better governance of their Power Platform assets.
“Our collaboration with Synapx has been nothing short of transformative for our organisation. From the very beginning, they demonstrated an exceptional ability to deeply understand our unique business needs and swiftly became an indispensable part of our team. Their proactive and meticulously planned approach not only provided us with critical insights but also resulted in substantial annual savings of over £60,000 on data licensing costs. We are profoundly thankful for their unwavering guidance and support throughout our data transformation journey and would enthusiastically recommend Synapx to any organisation seeking to elevate their data capabilities.”
